There are many different ways to practice forward folds. Here are 3 options for you to explore!

Spend some time practicing each one and decide which variation you enjoy the most and feels the best in your body.

1. With Blocks

From standing hinge at the hips falling forward bringing your hands to blocks. you can have the blocks on any height blocks can be flipped three ways to have a low medium or high height. from here you can look forward or you can intend your head towards the ground.

2. On a Chair

Sit on the edge of the chair and keep your feet in a wide stance. The wider the stance, the more room you will have for your belly. Hinging at the hips, bring your hands down to the floor or to blocks, whichever feels the best for you.3. Sit on a bolster or two pillows and bring your legs out in front of you in a V shape. Hinging forward bring your hands down towards the ground and an option to look forward or intend your head towards the ground.

3. On a Bolster

Sit on a bolster or two pillows, bringing your legs out in front of you in a V shape. Hinging forward, bring your hands down towards the ground and an option to look forward or intend your head towards the ground

There are many variations of each yoga pose. If you are in a class, where a specific pose is being cued, remember that you can pick the variation that works best for you. You have the autonomy to pick a variation of pose at anytime.
